News of two solar project developments in Poland, where Orlen acquired a 216MW project and Enefit Polska inaugurated a 45MW site.
Orlen buys 316MW solar-plus-wind project
Polish fossil fuel company Orlen has bought a 216MW hybrid solar-plus-wind project in Kazimierz Biskupi, central Poland.

Orlen New Power, the company’s onshore renewable energy arm, acquired the site from developers ONDE and the Neo Energy Group. It comprises a 180MW solar PV project and a 36MW wind farm that will share grid interconnection infrastructure through Poland’s cable pooling model. Orlen said this enables “more efficient use of the available grid connection capacity.”
Construction on the site is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with energisation expected in “early 2028”. ONDE will remain as the general contractor for the projects, while the Neo Energy Group will manage the construction process.
“The acquisition of the Kazimierz Biskupi project combines substantial scale with a high degree of development readiness and efficient use of the available grid connection capacity. Integrating solar and wind generation will improve the utilisation of grid infrastructure while enhancing the Orlen Group’s ability to create value,” said Tadeusz Zborowski, chief financial officer at Orlen New Power.
Poland has been a growing market for solar PV recently. Analysis from energy think tank Ember showed that 24% of electricity demand in Poland was met by solar PV in June 2026, after the country added over 20GW of new solar PV capacity between 2020 and 2025.
In April, the 204MW Zwartowo solar project became the first PV plant to enter the country’s grid balancing energy market. According to its developer, Germany’s Goldbeck Solar, the plant went through a 14-month approval process to meet the “harsh” requirements for solar plants to participate in Poland’s balancing market.
Enefit Polska opens 45MW PV plant
Elsewhere in Poland, project developer Enefit Polska officially inaugurated the 45MW Strzałkowo solar PV plant.
The site is near Strzałkowo in western-central Poland and represents the company’s largest investment in Poland to date. The project will produce 45GWh of power annually.
The project brings Enefit Polska’s total renewable energy capacity in Poland to 78MW.
Enefit Polska is a subsidiary of Estonian energy, renewables and mining firm Eesti Energia.
