Brazil auction recieves 20.9GW of PV registrants
The Brazilian Government's Energy Research Agency (EPE) has registered 649 solar projects totalling 20.9GW capacity for the its second Reserve Energy Auction, scheduled for 13 November this year.
Overall, 1,379 wind and solar projects were registered, at 38.9GW.
The state of Bahia attracted the most renewable energy projects with 192 solar projects with a combined capacity of more than 6GW.
Rio Grande do Norte was second highest with 89 projects totaling 3.3GW, followed by Piaui (2.9GW) and Minas Gerais (2GW).
All the projects will still pass through a vetting process before the auction.
EPE president Mauricio Tolmasquim said: "This auction set a record of registered projects, which shows the growing investor interest in renewable energy.”
