The Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO), of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, announced Monday that it has tabbed a number of companies for the first round of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP).
The bidding companies have been shortlisted based on a clear set of criteria that identifies bidders that are able to deliver utility-scale renewable energy projects.

REPDO has qualified 27 companies for the 300MW solar PV project, along with 24 companies for a 400MW wind farm. The qualified companies will now move on to the RFP stage as either “managing members”, “technical members,” or both, with the titles based on the group’s track record when to comes to delivering IPP projects of this scale. The request for qualification (RFQ) period closed on March 20th , 2017.
Khalid Al Falih, Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, said: “The market response to the Kingdom’s invitation to its first renewable energy projects has been overwhelmingly positive, demonstrating market confidence in our vast renewable energy potential and investment environment.
“The shortlisting represents the first step towards realizing our renewable energy ambitions. We look forward to engage more with these leading private developers during the next phase of the procurement process to demonstrate the value that they may bring to the Kingdom.”
Al Falih will announce the next phase of the county’s utility-scale renewable energy projects during the inaugural Saudi Arabia Renewable Energy Investment Forum (SAREIF),which will commence in Riyadh on April 17-18.
The 27 shortlisted companies for the 300MW PV project are as follows:
