The government of Qinghai Province's Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Hainan has teamed up with GSF Capital to construct a 1GW solar power plant in inland Qinghai. Renewables investment firm GSF Capital signed an MOU with the government body recently for the development of the plant, the cost of which was undisclosed.

The area is said to receive high insolation levels and has been a region that the government has intended developing from a solar perspective for some time. China has set itself the goal of having 235GW of its annual power requirements provided by clean energy sources between 2011 and 2015.
