Chinese tier one manufacturer Renesola will open a manufacturing base in Japan, in partnership with electronics trading company Vitec.

Vitec is headquartered in Tokyo with offices throughout Japan, the Asia-Pacific region and in California, supplying mostly semi-conductors and other electronic components. Vitec announced news of the collaboration with ReneSola, with production expected to begin in April under the name Vitec Global Solar. Financial details and details of production capacity have not been revealed.

Also collaborating with the two companies will be Sun-S, a Japanese manufacturing company specialising in electronics. The announcement from Vitec claimed the partnering companies would focus on making high quality, cost-competitive solar panels for industrial and residential markets. The new facility will be located in Otawara, Tochigi Prefecture, which is north of Tokyo.

In May 2013, Renesola supplied 10MW of modules to Vitec for various projects around Japan.

In other ReneSola news, the company announced that it will supply 13MW of its Virtus and Virtus II modules to a solar park project in Wiltshire, England for privately owned investment company, Low Carbon. Modules will be shipped to the project from ReneSola warehouses in Poland and India over a five-week period.

ReneSola has its in-house manufacturing at several locations within China and OEM outsourcing arrangements in Poland, Turkey, South Africa, India, Malaysia and South Korea. The JV module manufacturing deal with Vitec means the company can add Japan to its fast expanding manufacturing footprint.

ReneSola could therefore have the largest geographical manufacturing footprint of any PV manufacturer.
