SK Gupta named Azure Power’s CFO

A thirty-year veteran to the financial management business, Surendra Kumar Gupta will be bringing his experience to his new CFO position with Azure Power. As a member of the company’s executive team, he will support operational and business development financing, project initiatives, create business plans and help advise the board of directors.

Gupta previously served as Al Suwaidi Group’s CFO where he oversaw the financial functions at the corporate level and dealt with strategic business and financial planning, fund raising and IT initiatives. In addition to his role as CFO, Gupta was general manager for one of the company’s manufacturing business, which saw him manage the complete operations of the business unit.

He has additionally worked as finance head for Samtel Color, VP of finance for Fenner India and Birla Yamaha’s deputy general manager of finance. He graduated with honors from Delhi University and received his account certification from the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India. 

SK Gupta commented on his new position, saying, “[The] solar sector in India is in its nascent stage and has a large potential for steep growth in coming years. It is a capital-intensive industry with special funding requirements. Companies in this sector require long term innovative financial planning to grow steadily.
