As part of a new plan to bring in 1GW worth of capacity from renewable energy sources, Argentinian President Mauricio Macri announced that the South American country will set aside 300MW worth of solar in the upcoming auction.
The US-headquartered Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), part of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), will help to finance 100MW of solar projects in the Northern Argentinian province of Jujuy.
The government of Argentinian province La Rioja has signed a letter of intent with German firm Photovoltaic Park to develop three solar parks with a combined capacity of 700MW in separate parts of the province costing US$1.4 billion overall.
