UK solar energy giant Solarcentury has teamed up with London Distillers to ensure that its building in Athi River, Kenya, will soon house the largest rooftop solar project in East Africa.

Kenya’s Rural Electrification Authority (REA) has approved the construction of a 55MW solar power plant in the East Kenyan County of Garissa, requiring an investment of KES12.8 million (US$126 million).

French PV company EREN Renewable Energy and developer Access Infra Africa, a subsidiary of Access Power, have begun construction of a 10MW solar PV plant in Uganda, which will be the largest project in the Eastern region of Sub-Saharan Africa once complete.
