Unidym, a subsidiary of Arrowhead Research, and Samsung Electronics have joined forces for an IP cooperation and license agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Unidym licenses Samsung patents for CNT materials, including fundamental patents on CNT compositions of matter, synthesis of CNTs, processing CNTs, ink formulations, and transparent conductive films.

Additionally, Unidym has passed on specific patent rights to Samsung, which mainly deal with electronic devices incorporating CNTs. In return, Samsung gave Unidym licenses to sell products under the transferred patent rights. The signed agreement will also see the two companies working closely for the development and commercialization of CNT-based products.

“This is an important development in carbon-based electronics,” said Mark Tilley, president and CEO of Unidym. “We have worked with Samsung Electronics for several years, and we are now looking forward to this next phase in our relationship. We expect Samsung’s investment in this alliance and ongoing IP cooperation with Unidym will open the market for printable carbon electronics.”
