Silicon Border announces advisory board

Silicon Border, the science and technology park located in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, announces the formation of its advisory board comprised of seasoned political and industry leaders with experience in dealing with issues impacting the Mexico/California border.

Joining Silicon Border's advisory board are Malin Burnham (Chairman), Eugenio Elorduy, Ed Guiles, Jodi Shelton and Fernando Maiz.

The Silicon Border advisory board provides strategic guidance and long-term planning to the management team. The company's cross-border relationship encourages the good relations between Mexico and the United States; providing an opportunity for global business, giving a competitive advantage in world markets. The advisory board members have global experience in successfully creating technology groups, which focus on new and alternative energy ideas with the application of science and technology.

Malin Burnham is vice chairman of Cushman Wakefield Real Estate and Trustee of the Burnham Institute for Medical Research. For more than 50 years, he has been a leader in real estate and community developments in San Diego. He is also presently involved in the San Diego Hall of Champions, UCSD Foundation, Rady School of Management, San Diego Economic Development Corporation, and many others. Burnham earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.

Eugenio Elorduy is the former Governor of Baja California. He is a national board member of the Partido Acción Nacional or National Action Party (PAN). Elorduy began his political career as Secretary of Finance in the first PAN state government in Mexico; followed as Mayor of Mexicali. Elorduy graduated with honors from Monterrey Tech in Business Administration.

Ed Guiles was chairman of the San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) and Southern California Gas Company (Sempra Energy). He is now a director of the Cubic Corporation, he comes to the Silicon Border with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Arizona and also as a graduate of USC Executive Program and Edison Electric Institute.

Jodi Shelton is president and CEO of Shelton Group, as well as the co-founder and president of Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA). Shelton earned her bachelor's degree in Political Science from San Diego State and her master's degree in Political Science from the University of Houston.

Fernando Maiz is the CEO of Maiz Edifications SA CV (Maiz), the design/build construction company that specializes in utility scale power plants, water treatment plants and roadways. Maiz has served as president of Sustainable Agenda in Garza Garcia, Monterrey Mexico and EcoSync, the first companies in Monterrey, Mexico to raise awareness of environmental concerns and care for the environment. He was also the president of the Canadian Chamber and is still an active member. Maiz earned his MBA from IPADE Institute.
