Silicon solar cell and module manufacturer Suniva, Inc. is powering Florida’s first-ever solar powered water treatment plant.

The plant, located in Coleman, Florida, will officially be opened on 16 June during a ribbon cutting ceremony that will attended by city officials, Suniva, engineering firm Mirrauer and Associates, general contractor ECO-2000 Inc., and solar installer JSG Solar.

Matt Card, Suniva’s vice president of global sales and marketing, said: “Suniva is proud to be a part of this unique installation in Florida. We’ve seen a real uptick in the amount of solar powered water treatment and waste water treatment facilities. We’re happy to see that municipalities of all sizes are recognizing the value of renewable energy. Forward-thinking cities like Coleman are showing all of us how to be responsible citizens – economically and environmentally.
