Thin-film module manufacturer Astronergy has announced that it is the latest company to earn the UL1703 Certificate with Type1 fire performance.

The standard for fire performance will be rolled out nationally from 2016 with California having introduced it a year early. The certificate is necessary for a PV system to be given a Class A fire rating, now a requirement in California.

“We are happy to see our products are better than most in the markets,” said Dr Chuan Lu, vice president, Astronergy. “Fire performance is critical to household safety therefore stricter standards are quite necessary. Astronergy is proud of its great performance as a first mover in achieving better quality.”

ReneSola, REC and PhonoSolar are among other manufacturers awarded the certificate already.
