Azure Power commissions solar plant in Rajasthan, its third in less than two years

According to a report by PV Magazine, Azure Power has advised that it has commissioned its third solar plant in just under two years. Located in Rajasthan, the latest 5MW plant will be found in Kathauti village and is said to be the first 5MW plant under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).

The solar project falls under Phase I, Batch I of the JNNSM and will provide power to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam. The installation is spread over 40 acres of land with Azure intending to present community awareness plans to Kathauti citizens that will educate them further on PV technology.

CEO Inderpreet Wadhwa commented, “With the commissioning of our third grid connected plant, we have now demonstrated our strong engineering and construction capabilities in three different states in India. With the recent allocation of National solar mission projects, we have also shown our long-term commitment in driving down the prices of solar power in India, in line with the ambitions of the National Solar Mission.”
