Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has started work on two 10MW solar farms in Uttar Pradesh and Odisha for the utility NTPC.
The company announced the projects, worth INR1.32 billion (US$22.4 million) and also revealed that it had begun shipping PV modules for the solar farms from its Bangalore factory on 25 July.

The company also reiterated its intention to expand the facility in the near future.
BHEL will design, manufacture, supply and install the plants. It will also operate and maintain them for one year.
BHEL already has MW-scale power plants in Karnataka, Rajasthan and Maharashtra and runs smaller community solar projects across the country.
According to Wikisolar, India has installed more than 0.5GW of solar power in 2013.
