The plant was officially opened in April by the country’s energy minister. Electricity from the plant will be used to reduce the bills of tenants at the industrial park.

“We are pleased to have been selected to supply our PV modules to the Kayseri Organized Industrial Zone Project,” said Dr. Shawn Qu, chairman and CEO, Canadian Solar. “I am confident that Canadian Solar's global experience, proven track record, and consistent product performance will continue to make us a partner of choice in supplying our modules to key solar installations worldwide.”

Turkey is targeting 5GW of PV by 2023 as part of an overhaul of its energy infrastructure.
