Element Power starts solar subsidiary, names Paolo Pietrogrande executive chairman

Element Power revealed that it has launched its new solar subsidiary, Element Power Solar (EPS)  in response to what it deems as the global opportunities PV solar power affords. Element Power noted that it has 21 solar power plants in operation and a project portfolio that totals over 2,000MW. In addition to revealing its new subsidiary, Element Power advised that it had appointed Paolo Pietrogrande as chairman of EPS.

“In the rapidly evolving market of solar energy, Element Power is concentrating its solar expertise in a distinct business unit – says Pedro Barriuso, executive chairman of Element Power. “Paolo Pietrogrande has an impressive track record, the experience and the vision to successfully lead this new global player in solar PV”.

Pietrogrande comes to EPS from Kinetics Technology International (KTI) where he worked as a process engineer for the R&D group. He has held various executive positions at KTI, Bain and General Electric and was founder and CEO of Enel Green Power. Additionally, he has served as chairman of Atmos Holdings, chairman of Solar Energy Italia and executive chairman of Gamesa Solar/9REN Group.
