Eni starts building 31MW solar plant in Sardinia

Italian oil giant Eni, through its subsidiary Eni New Energy, has started construction of a 31MW solar PV plant at the Porto Torres industrial site in Sassari on the island of Sardinia.

The Region of Sardinia authorised the project, which is located on a site of National Interest, an industrial area being redeveloped by another Eni company named Syndial, with what it has called “environmental remediation projects”.

About 70% of the energy produced will be consumed by the companies operating at the industrial site.

The Porto Torres PV project will be completed by the end of 2019 and is the second plant built in Eni-owned industrial areas in Sardinia following the construction of the 26MW Assemini plant in 2018.
