Fifth Conto Energia disputed as nothing more than a proposal

The Italian PV association, Gruppo Imprese Fotovoltaiche Italiane (GIFI), had previously demanded the government needs to provide verification of the drafts of the new energy bill to replace Conto Energia four floating around the internet. However, market research company, Jefferies, states Alveraldo Farri from GIFI confirmed that the fifth Conto Energia is merely a draft proposal from an industry organization rather than a leaked document from a government source.

Jefferies, following its attendance at a photon conference alongside GIFI, has advised caution to its investors to not believe a fifth energy bill has already been released. The government is to announce its decision either late spring or early summer.

The market research group maintains that the annual limit will most likely remain unchanged at €6-7 billion and limited to under 2GW for rooftop installations. However as prices decline, the industry may not need an FiT given the high energy prices in Italy.
