General Motors (GM) has signed an agreement with renewable energy firm KC Cottrell to construct a 3MW PV array on the rooftop of its Changwon Assembly plant in South Korea.
The array will cover 63,917 square metres and when operational, it is expected to generate enough electricity to power 1,200 households in South Korea annually. It is scheduled to come online in the third quarter of 2013.
The PV system will be GM’s fourth largest project in its solar energy portfolio. The company has rooftop PV systems at its plants in Germany and Spain. In total, it has 33MW of installed PV capacity at its global facilities.
