Responding to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Energy Highway Initiative, Renewables Biz has reported that Entecco has submitted a project proposal for a PV or CPV project with a size up to 2,000MW that will be built in Seneca County, New York. Entecco’s Central Solar City (CSC) project would potentially be the largest single solar hub of its kind in the US.
Chinese company Sky Solar will be a conduit to help form a strategic partnership for bilateral free trade between China and Chile. CEO Amy Zhang recently attended a banquet hosted by Chilean President Sebastian Pinera in the capital, Santiago, an event also attended by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and his entourage.
Chimes International was joined by state and local officials, as well as representatives from Gas Energy Services (WGES) and Bithenergy as it commemorated its new rooftop PV system at the Terry Allen Perl Centre. The 259kW system uses 1,079 panels and was made possible through a combined effort between Chimes, WGES and Bithenergy.
Swedish retailer IKEA has connected the 21st solar system at its store in Woodbridge, Virginia, the company has announced. Gehrlicher Solar developed and installed the 504kW PV system, equipped with 2,100 PV panels, on 63,000ft² of IKEA’s rooftop. IKEA has 18 more systems to install at US stores to reach its goal of installing a total of 38MW of systems.
Hawaiian electrical contractor Helix Electric has been supplied with 7.2MW of solar modules from ET Solar, the company has announced. The modules will be used to equip the Port Allen solar farm on the island of Kaua’i, Hawaii. The generated energy will be sold under a 20-year PPA to Kaua’i Island Utility.
Martier Solar’s expansion plans are slowly being realized with a 229kW PV solar system at Hertz’s global headquarters in Park Ridge, New Jersey, US. This is one of a series of approximately 15 PV systems designed and installed at Hertz facilities around the US. The array is expected to produce more than 263,000kWh of renewable energy on an annual basis.
International Power Canada’s (IPC) 10MW Brockville Solar project has begun construction in Leeds County, Ontario. The project site has been cleared and final engineering has commenced. The company expects for civil works to continue through the summer in order to construct the racks for the modules.
PV plant developer Sonnedix has bought a PV plant in the north-east of France, the company has announced. The 24MW Toul 3 project, located near the city of Nancy, has been constructed by EDF EN Services and is part of the 115MW Toul-Rosières PV park, the largest European solar park. Toul 3 has been constructed on a former NATO site, and is equipped with 500,000 First Solar panels as well as SMA inverters. The PV plant is expected to commence commercial operation this summer.
Parabel has completed and connected the Jännersdorf Solar Park to the grid, the company has announced. The PV plant generates 40.5MW of energy and is located on a site of 90 hectares. It is equipped with 167,550 Trina Solar, Suntech and Hareon modules as well as 1,894 Siemens inverters and 5.216 Schletter module tables.
MEMC Electronic Materials advised that during Q2 2012, it had completed sales contracts for four solar projects in Europe totalling 98MW. The company completed solar projects worth 60MW in Bulgaria and 38MW in Italy.
