AIKO has achieved a global industry milestone with its ABC Stellar 66-cell dual-glass product becoming the world’s first back-contact (BC) module to receive explosion protection certification from TÜV SÜD.

The certification not only validates the exceptional safety and high performance of the company’s ABC modules in extreme high-risk environments, but also provides critical technical support for integrating PV systems into explosion-hazardous areas, such as oil and gas facilities, chemical plants and fuel stations, which have long been restricted by stringent safety regulations.

The TÜV SÜD certification verifies that the modules will not act as an ignition source in flammable or explosive atmospheres, thereby enabling safe deployment in high-risk industrial environments while supporting regulatory alignment.

The core of AIKO’s achievement lies in the integration of increased safety protection principles (Ex e) with fundamental technological innovation. The modules strictly adhere to GB 3836.3 standards, employing enhanced insulation, increased electrical clearances and precise temperature control to eliminate electrical sparks at source. Leveraging unique cell architecture and advanced copper interconnection technology, the AIKO modules avoid the micro-crack risks inherent in conventional soldering, ensuring durable and stable electrical connections under mechanical stress and harsh conditions.

Beyond a single product breakthrough, the certification sets a new benchmark for the entire PV industry in high-safety application scenarios.
