Trinasolar has announced that its factory in Yancheng, China’s Jiangsu province, has been awarded zero-waste landfill and zero-carbon factory (Type I) three-star certification by TÜV Rheinland, becoming the first company to obtain the former and the first in the PV industry to obtain both certificates.
The Yancheng factory’s efforts in promoting waste and carbon reductions are supported by a management team that is totally committed to formulating a robust building energy and waste management system. The factory has cut waste by more than 45 tonnes, re-using more than 300 tonnes and recycling more than 15,000 tonnes. Last year’s carbon emissions per unit of production (tCO2e/MW) at the factory were 15.17% less than in 2022, achieved through strategies such as installing PV modules over carports and upgrading its cooling system.
Executive president Helena Li commented: “Our Yancheng factory being awarded these two certificates is a tremendous achievement for our company, acknowledging not only our efforts over the years but also the importance of our breakthroughs in net-zero operations.”
