In order to meet the Jamaican government’s target to increase the amount of electricity it derives from renewable sources, 115MW of renewable energy capacity is required to be commissioned by 2015.

Jamaica’s government press agency JIS revealed that prospective bidders attended a pre-bid meeting on 17 January and that so far OUR has received 85 renewable energy project proposals.

The meeting was held in order to clarify any issues relating to the procurement.

Proposed utility-scale PV projects will be evaluated and benefit from a maximum feed-in tariff of US$0.26 per kWh.
