Single-axis PV tracking systems specialist NEXTracker, acquired by contract manufacturer, Flextronics International (Flex) said it had reached the milestone of shipping a total of 3GW of tracker systems, globally.
NEXTracker founder and CEO Dan Shugar said: “Solar is now the lowest cost power solution in key markets, and its cost effectiveness, combined with global clean energy priorities, is fueling record demand. Our products were created to deliver the most competitive solar power by minimising all costs (capital, installation, and operations) – while generating more energy.”

SunEdison had signed a master services agreement in June 2014 with NEXTracker to supply 1.85GW of its tracker systems for PV power plant projects over a three year period, which kick-started the tracker firms growth and has led to major success in the US, while expanding its business in emerging markets such as Mexico, Australia, MENA, India and China.
However, parent company Flex was cited in SunEdison bankruptcy papers filed late last week that showed it was owed over US$44 million by renewable energy firm. Flex also acted a PV module assembly subcontractor to SunEdison and is also the main module assembly subcontractor to SunPower from its major facility in Mexicali, Mexico.
