The SCHMID Group has delivered its first TinPad system for volume production to an unidentified customer.
The TinPad technology, which is under license from SCHOTT Solar places tin contacts on a full-faced aluminium coated solar cells back surface.

The displacement of silver contacts reduces costs by a claimed €0.03 cents per cell, yet the closed backside layer aimed to improve rear side passivation, is said to lead to a 0.2% increase in overall cell efficiency.
