Swiss inverter company SolarMax has supplied three SolarMax 2000S single-phase, grid connected inverters to the largest open pit copper mine in the world, located near Calama in the region of Antofagasta, Chile.
The Chuquicamata mine has deployed a self-consumption PV system with energy storage, designed to generate a peak power output of 6.48kWp, using 27 YL240P-29b Yingli Green PV modules with a power output of 240Wp each.
The facility was said to have an energy storage system comprising of 48Vcc, composed of 24 Victron AGM 220Ah batteries totalling 1,320Ah, capable of providing 63.36 kW of total power.
