Sunovia Energy Technologies plans to rebrand with appointment of marketing director

With a new marketing communications, public relations and advertising expert, it could be assumed that Sarasota-based Sunovia Energy Technologies could be taking steps to rebrand itself. Jon Di Gesu has been appointed head of marketing and will direct the company’s branding and positioning efforts to support its growing global sales force and customer base.

Di Gesu brings over 30 years of communications experience plus a strong grounding in both the business-to-business and consumer marketplace.  “Jon Di Gesu combines branding expertise with extensive background in the lighting and electronics industries which will help Sunovia better communicate to our diverse and growing customer and shareholder constituencies,” said Mel Interiano, CEO, Sunovia Energy Technologies.

Over 17 years were spent at OSRAM SYLVANIA where Di Gesu helped re-brand the division's advertising, public relations, marketing communications, promotions, packaging and training and education initiatives for the division's industrial and consumer markets.  He ended his career at OSRAM SYLVANIA in 2008, as director of brand strategy, responsible for the branding and positioning of the SYLVANIA brand in North America across all divisions. 

Prior to joining OSRAM SYLVANIA, Di Gesu served as public relations supervisor for the US factory automation, solar and lighting divisions of the Munich, Germany-based global electronics leader, Siemens. He worked as public relations manager for Unilever's National Starch and Chemical Division in Bridgewater, NJ and served as public information officer for the Chlorine Institute, a 130 member chemical trade association based in New York City. He began his communications career writing sales promotion pieces for Newark, NJ-based Prudential Insurance Company. Since 2008, Di Gesu has been a consultant in the marketing communications, advertising, public relations and sports marketing fields.

Di Gesu holds a B.A. in English from Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT and a certificate from The Consortium of Executive Education, Babson College, Wellesley, MA.
