Ralf Lüdemann joins Schmid management team

Ralf Lüdemann has been appointed as the new lead for Schmid’s energy storage business unit, and will play a key role as advisor to the photovoltaic (PV) related business units.

Lüdemann joins Schmid from SolarWorld, where he had worked for the past 10 years. He is a 20-year veteran of the PV industry, working for seven years at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg, after completing university.

In 2000, Lüdemann began working with the Georgia Institute of Technology in the US where he managed technology transfer until 2002 when he began with SolarWorld. His time at SolarWorld saw him build up the first solar cell line and act as managing director of Deutsche Cell and SolarWorld Industries Deutschland.

Lüdemann is an honorary professor at the Technical University of Freiberg and a member of the board of trustees of Fraunhofer ISE. He received his degree in physics from the University of Karlsruhe and his doctorate at the University of Konstanz.
