Sanyo Canada will supply the Westburne division of Rexel Canada Electrical with solar modules, which will be available at the distributor's locations across the country. The strategic partnership will help facilitate the supply of quality PV components to the growing number of electrical contractors in Canada operating in the solar field, according to the companies.

Westburne has 110 branch locations nationwide, including 50 in Ontario, home to the most lucrative solar feed-in tariffs in the world. The companies believe the alliance will improve their positions to take advantage of the rapidly growing solar market in the province.

“We look forward to offering a one-stop shop for solar contractors,” said Michael Muzyczka, Ontario strategic initiatives manager at Westburne. “It will be a huge benefit for contractors working on job sites farther away from the large municipalities.”

“We wanted an alliance that would provide easy access to Sanyo PV modules for electrical contractors,” added KC Chang, GM of solar system solutions at Sanyo. “Together with Westburne, we should be able to reach an even greater number of contractors, which will help increase the number of solar installations and the focus on renewable energy sources.”

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
