Scheuten Solar has supplied 600 of its custom-made building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) modules for a 220kW installation at the Carrara Stadium on Australia’s Gold Coast.
The BIPV Optisol modules were incorporated into the 25,000-seater stadium’s recent redevelopment by architecture firm Popolous and installed on its inner rim by Stowe Australia and Watpac. Each glass panel is five metres wide and in total the array, which is Australia’s largest BIPV system and caters for 20% of the stadium’s energy requirements, spans 450 metres of roofing.

“I’m very proud that we produced BIPV Optisol modules for such an iconic project as the Carrara football stadium,” Scheuten’s BIPV sales manager Jan-Willem Tolkamp said. “Although Scheuten Solar has realized many large eye-catching BIPV projects, this is the first one of this scale in Australia. This proves that our innovations for BIPV seamlessly fit current demands worldwide.”
