Jinko Solar will supply over 1,200HV of 250W PV modules. The project will also be equipped with 19 SMA inverters.

When the project completes, the facility is expected to generate approximately 505MWh of electricity annually offsetting 500 tons of CO2 emissions a year.

The local residents will be also benefit by the reduction of carbon tax in their electricity bills.

Once the project receives approval from utility Eskom, the construction phase is expected to break ground in July and will take between two and four months to implement and commission.

Rowan Jacklin, Soventix’s general manager and responsible for activities in Sub-Saharan Africa, said: “I feel that Soventix secured this contract due to the fact that we are an international solar developer with vast experience. That coupled with the healthy return we could fix with Eskom, and the support we offer our customers certainly gave us the advantage. Besides the planning, construction and organisational work, Soventix offers system operation, monitoring of the returns and maintenance of all components.”
