PV equipment supplier Spire Corporation said that it had completed the installation of a turn-key module assembly line for an unidentified customer in Eastern Europe.

The company said that it was the first of its kind in the region, and would be used to produce modules for large utility-scale installations within the local regional market.

Spire is also providing on-going technical support for the training and the production ramp up of the line, which is expected to begin in 2014.

Roger G. Little, Chairman & CEO of Spire said, “There is a great deal of demand for solar in this region and Spire is pleased to be working with a local partner on their entry into the solar market. We expect this region to continue growing and anticipate that this is the first of many regional opportunities for Spire, which addresses the desires for local manufacturing and content requirements.”

The company did not provide further details surrounding the module plant. However, the project should provide a boost to its earnings over the next few quarters, after two-years of diminishing revenue that has forced the company to restructure and sell subsidiary companies.
