Spire Corporation has started building work on a 2MW system for a school in southwest Massachusetts. The system is situated on eight acres of land at the Berkshire School in the town of Sheffield and will generate 2,300 MWh of electricity every year.

Spire is developing the project, which will help cater for 40% of the school’s energy requirements, alongside PowerPlay Solar. This investment is one of the largest school solar arrays in North America to date and will help the private boarding school move towards its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2016.
