STR Holdings to add further encapsulant production in China

US-based PV module encapsulant supplier, STR Holdings, is to renovate its leased facility in Suzhou and seek further outsourced manufacturing arrangements with third parties.

The news emerged after the company revealed yesterday it that it had secured PV module encapsulant material production in China through an agreement with ZheJiang FeiYu Photo-Electrical Science & Technology Co.

STR’s move to expand its manufacturing capacity in China after consolidating facilities in 2013 was said to be due to increased demand from top tier solar module manufacturers in China.

STR Holdings said that its previously leased facility in Suzhou would be made operational during the second quarter of 2014, while additional third party manufacturing partners were being sought.

However, the company noted that further deals would not necessarily follow the structure of the agreement made with FeiYu.
