Sunpreme, a solar power producer headquartered in California, US, has completed, it claims, the largest commercial rooftop PV installation in Punjab, India.

The 150kW rooftop PV array has been installed at the Guru Nanak Dev Super Speciality (GNDSS) Hospital. It is equipped with Sunpreme modules which have a double glass construction with a thin, frameless design. The system also utilises inverters supplied by German PV manufacturer SMA. The system is expected to generate around 225,000kWh of electricity every year.

Over 25 years, the Sunpreme PV system is expected to generate energy savings of over INR9 crores (US$1.7 million) which will be injected into the hospital to support and promote the healthcare organisation.

“GNDSS Hospital's primary objective is to provide excellent and affordable healthcare to our citizens. We selected Sunpreme panels because of its robust reliability and excellent value. With proven, reliable technology, we are maximising our savings while minimising the hospital's carbon footprint. These savings will enable us to reach that objective,” said Sandeep Sandhu, director of the hospital's board.
