Sustainable Energy Technologies has appointed Robert Bucher as its president/CEO, effective Sept. 1. The company says that the former CEO of Adept Technology and Norsat International will guide the launch of its Paralex rooftop solar power system architecture in Europe and North America from its offices in Toronto.

Calling Bucher “the ideal candidate to lead the growth and expansion of Sustainable,” Michael Carten, the company’s executive chairman, cited the new hire’s “impressive track record of success in rapidly focusing and then growing innovative companies, resulting in significant increase in value for shareholders.”

“Sustainable Energy’s unique line of Paralex products and systems changes the game for commercial and public sector rooftop solar power systems,” said Bucher. “The solar PV systems and inverters deliver a higher return on investment while also providing the highest level of safety and reliability that is crucial for government and commercial buildings.”

The Paralex line is based on a patented low-voltage, high-yield inverter, which can be used with both crystalline and thin-film PV modules. The company says that its products enable a parallel architecture to increase total system yields while also addressing emerging safety concerns. The system achieves higher energy yields and operates at intrinsically safe voltages as well as enabling simpler, more flexible design that improves module coverage of any rooftop, according to Sustainable.
