PV has outpaced wind as the preferred choice for corporate buyers in the US, with utility-scale solar accounting for 58% of the total contracted clean power to date, according to trade body the American Clean Power Association (ACP).
Amazon has expanded its renewable energy presence in India with two solar-wind hybrid projects to be developed in partnership with Vibrant Energy, a subsidiary of Macquarie Green Investment Group.
Canadian renewable energy company Brookfield Asset Management has established a mutual agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that will see 600MW of solar and wind capacity provided to fuel Amazon’s operations. Brookfield will also employ AWS’ technology and digital capabilities to optimise its infrastructure.
In the span of two and a half years, commercial solar has doubled its installed capacity from 9.8GW at the end of 2019 to 19GW of solar PV until June 2022.
