Independent power producer (IPP) Scatec refinanced US$100 million of its US$193 million bridge-to-bond facility with a new term loan due in Q4 2027.

Independent power producer Scatec will construct a 50MW solar project in Botswana after signing a 25-year power purchase agreement with state-owned utility Botswana Power Corporation.

The African countries of Botswana and Cameroon have taken steps to add a combined 125MW of installed PV capacity to their respective national grids.

Projects were originally to be joint ventures with the government.

Botswana’s state-owned power utility has invited bids to build a 100MW plant in the country.
