German energy company RWE has started operating two solar PV projects with a combined capacity of 31.5MWp and their battery energy storage systems (BESS) at the Garzweiler opencast mine in Germany.
An overwhelming majority of Germans believed that an accelerated expansion of renewables was important, but not everyone from this category agreed to install power plants in their neighbourhoods, according to KfW Research.
RWE is to invest up to €15 billion (US$16.92 billion) into its renewable portfolio in Germany by 2030 as well as expanding its workforce through hiring 200 new staff to work on developing solar PV and wind in the country
