Singapore-headquartered solar manufacturer Gstar Solar has started commercial production of modules at its solar cell and module plant in the Philippines.

Vietnamese solar manufacturer Boviet Solar has opened its first US module assembly plant, in North Carolina, with an annual nameplate capacity of 2GW.

Indian solar manufacturer Waaree Energies has planned to expand its US module assembly plant by 1.6GW to 3.2GW of annual nameplate capacity.

India has added 11.6GW and 25.3GW of annual nameplate capacity in 2024 for solar cells and PV modules, respectively.

Indian solar manufacturer Inox Solar has secured a land agreement with the Odisha government to build a solar cell and module assembly plant.

This would be treble the installations registered globally in 2024, with China controlling most of the supply chain.

The president said the move was “necessary to advance the policy of the United States to restore common sense to the Federal Government."

Construction of the solar cell plant is expected to begin in mid-year 2025 with commercial production beginning in the second half of 2026.
