Solar PV power systems contributed to 11.4% of Spain’s power mix last month, setting a new record for monthly production, according to new data from grid operator Red Eléctrica de España.
Driven by declining module costs, solar was by far the world’s leading power-generating technology installed in 2019, making up 45% of new capacity, according to BloombergNEF.
Renewables will stand alone as the only generation class to experience growth in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic delivers the most seismic shock to the power sector since the Great Depression.
