The government of Colombia has announced plans to hold a renewable energy auction in the first quarter of 2021 that it says could represent an investment of more than US$6 billion in the country.
Bogotá will exceptionally allow privately-run locations to import solar and wind components, in a bid to speed up deployment of green energy tender contract holders of 2019.
New figures from regulator UPME show nearly 70% of all energy projects currently proposed are solar, setting the scene for growth spurt in the country using auctions to catch up on the renewable front.
