United Solar has finished work on a 438kW rooftop PV system on Daimler Buses’ manufacturing facility in Mississauga, Canada.

The project, christened the SolarShare WaterView Project, is one of the largest rooftop installations in the Greater Toronto Area and makes up part of the SolarShare Renewable Energy Co-operative portfolio. United Solar’s partner Advanced Green Technologies (AGT) carried out the building work, installing 3,040 Uni-Solar PowerTilt silicon thin-film modules.

“This landmark event is a precedent-setting example of community and commercial collaboration in clean energy development,” said SolarShare president Mike Brigham. “The WaterView project has brought together cutting-edge technology, industry-leading design and local human resources in a project that allows residents in Mississauga and across the province to invest in, and benefit from, clean solar power.”

“We have deployed our innovative PowerTilt system, which enables a high yield output from the solar array while limiting weight and impact to the roof structure. We expect this to be the first of many Uni-Solar systems on large commercial and institutional rooftops throughout Ontario,” added United Solar's Christopher Bala.
