ATERSA still strong in the photovoltaic market

13 March 2009 | By Jon Haines | News > PV Modules

ATERSA's Almussafes plant ATERSA, a subsidiary of Elecnor, ended its financial 2008 with commercialised power of 111 MWp, representing the growth of 33.7% compared to 83 MWp in 2007.  Sales were 24.8% greater than in 2007, totalling €422 million.  The company’s newly installed plant in Almussafes, Spain has increased productivity after the second phase of the latest generation of automation by robots, providing a capacity of more than 100 MWp. Future phases for complete automation will be implemented shortly in order to reach a 300 MWp production capacity.

More than half of the commercialised power corresponds to the National and International Distribution market while the rest, alongside other Elector Group subsidiaries, corresponds to high-yield projects funded with "Project Finance" type structures for private investors.  The company has remained competitive in the photovoltaic market by increasing its exportation rate, despite the global market crisis and new solar power regulations in Spain.

ATERSA’s parent company, Elecnor ended financial 2008 with an increased net profit of 27.2%, or €93.6 million, meaning it has doubled its net results from 2005, which totalled €47.3 million.
