Tier-1 PV manufacturer and project developer ET Solar said it had secured turnkey EPC services for a 50MWp solar power plant in Israel, along with local partners G-Systems and El-Mor Group.

The PV power plant is to be built some 20 km north-west of the ancient port-city of Ashkelon and is expected to be grid connected by the end of 2015.

Dennis She, President and CEO of ET Solar, said, “This is the largest solar power-plant we have built in the Middle East to date. It demonstrates our ability to plan and implement every stage of large-scale solar power projects, from EPC to O&M. The solar project comes in the wake of last year's achievements, which included completion of a 7.8 MWp solar power plant and a contract for a 40 MWp project.

The project is expected to generate 85,000MWh of electricity per annum, enough to offset approximately 50,000 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere every year.
