IKEA completes 26th solar energy project with installation in Draper, Utah

IKEA's Draper, Utah store is the latest to launch a rooftop PV array.

IKEA has been on a roll this week announcing the completion of its latest rooftop solar projects on its US stores. Following its Chicago and Atlanta installations, the company revealed that its Draper, Utah store now has a 1,015kW system spread across 180,500 square feet of rooftop space producing electricity.

REC Solar oversaw the development, design and installation of the solar array, which uses 4,228 panels and is anticipated to generate nearly 1,487,080kWh of energy per year. IKEA now has 13 more US locations that have solar projects under development.

“We at IKEA believe in the never-ending job of striving to improve the sustainability of our day-to-day business,” said Tony Williams, IKEA Draper store manager. “The IKEA coworkers in Draper are excited to help contribute to this goal with our newly operational solar energy system. We appreciate the support of the City of Draper, Rocky Mountain Power and REC Solar, our partners in this project.”
