“We are proud to be leading the way for the growth of renewables, and solar in particular, in South America as well as supporting the region in its goal of reducing the use of fossil fuels,” said Paolo Casini, head of marketing for ABB’s Solar business. “To be a part of this market expansion and to have our ABB ULTRA selected as the inverter of choice for this demanding project is particularly rewarding,” he added.

ABB said that the project’s investors had selected the inverters for their robustness and modularity, a key feature to ensure low maintenance cost for the site’s remote location.

In November 2014 Etrion completed the 70MW Project Salvador in the Atacama Desert, Chile. In September 2014, SunEdison said it expected its 70MW Javiera plant to be commissioned in early 2015.
