Brazil's Metropolitan Company of Waters and Energy (EMAE) has expressed interest in selecting partners to foray into various renewable energy initiatives including solar PV.
EMAE has primarily focused on hydroelectric power, but it now wants to divest into solar, wind, small hydropower plants, biomass or energy from municipal solid waste.

New projects will be developed in partnership and will be obtained through participation in future energy auctions.
EMAE will provide land, capital and goods for the projects as well as expertise in the Brazilian energy sector.
Brazil has a new energy minister, following the political crisis in recent weeks that led to the impeachment of former president Dilma Rousseff. An energy industry representative recently told PV Tech that the new minister Fernando Coelho Filho is open to renewables.
