Canadian Solar modules powering 10MW Cavriglia plant

Canadian Solar has supplied over one quarter of the modules for a recently completed 10MW solar project in Cavriglia, Italy.

The system’s 40,000 modules – including 12,465 of Canadian Solar’s CS6P-P series – were installed by Coop Cellini Impianti Tecnologici and connected to the grid in October.

“The installation of a solar plant such as this, one which is able to meet the energy needs of an entire town, is a clear example of how the power industry is going to evolve in the years to come,” Canadian Solar chairman and CEO Shawn Qu said. “The system being used in Cavriglia is a model that can be followed in other Italian towns, so as to achieve the same levels of efficiency seen elsewhere in Europe, where at least 30% of the power generated comes from renewable sources.”

Earlier this week, Canadian Solar also revealed that another recently finished installation in Europe, the 8.5MW PV plant in Lindenhof, Germany, has been fitted with its CS6P-P series modules.
