Trina Solar has announced that its Vertex S ultra-high performance rooftop module series has won the Red Dot design award for its advanced design concept and positive user experience. The award is considered the ‘Oscar’ for product design and Trina is the first PV module manufacturer to receive it. The company’s latest upgraded Vertex S and Vertex 580W modules will be officially launched at Intersolar Europe on May 11.

Chinese inverter manufacturer KSTAR will launch a new series of residential hybrid storage systems at Intersolar Europe. The 3-Ph BluE Residential ESS integrates its own inverter technology with a lithium-ion storage solution from China's CATL and comes with adjustable power in each phase, supporting diesel generator control (DI/DO).

The quest to find the ideal balance between efficiency and cost optimization is never ending in the photovoltaics industry. N-type cells, well known for their high efficiency, have started to come to the fore, with the industry placing a major bet on the technology. According to the Institute for Solar Energy Research in Hamelin (ISFH), the maximum theoretically possible efficiency for PERC, HJT and TOPCon cells is 24.5%, 27.5% and 28.7% respectively.
